Pet portrait sizes and frames
Choosing a size is a decision about your wall, not about your pet. Here is what each one suits, and what the difference between paper and canvas actually is.

What sizes do pet portraits come in?
Printed pet portraits come in three sizes, and paper and canvas offer the same three: 30 by 40 cm, 45 by 60 cm, and 60 by 80 cm. In inches that is 12 by 16, 18 by 24, and 24 by 32. The digital file is 4K, so it prints cleanly at any of them.
| Size | In inches | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Regular, 30 × 40 cm | 12 × 16 in | A shelf, a desk, or one piece in a gallery wall |
| Medium, 45 × 60 cm | 18 × 24 in | A single portrait in most rooms |
| Large, 60 × 80 cm | 24 × 32 in | Above a sofa or a bed |

Which size should you choose?
Pick the size from the wall, not from the pet. Regular suits a shelf, a desk, or one piece among several. Medium is the safe choice for a single portrait in most rooms. Large is for above a sofa or a bed, where anything smaller reads as an afterthought.
If you are torn between two sizes, take the larger one. A portrait shares the wall with the furniture around it, and a 30 by 40 cm print above a three-seater sofa ends up apologising for being there. The bigger size is almost never the one people regret.
A quick way to check
Cut the size out of newspaper and tape it to the wall for a day. It costs nothing and it settles the argument faster than any measurement.

Choose the style first
Paper, canvas and framing all come after the preview, so nothing is decided yet.
See portraitsShould you choose paper or canvas?
Paper is a print you frame, on 250 gsm matte stock with a smooth, glare-free finish. Canvas is stretched over wood and hangs as it is, with an optional frame around it. Paper suits a room that already has framed pieces. Canvas suits a wall where the portrait stands alone.
| Paper print | Canvas | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | 250 gsm matte paper | Cotton and polyester blend, 300 to 350 gsm |
| How it hangs | Needs a frame, or a clip and a nail | Hangs as it is, hanging kit already fitted |
| Frame options | White, black, natural wood, dark wood | Black, natural wood, dark wood |
| Depth on the wall | Flat in the frame | 2 cm deep |
| Best when | The room already has framed pieces | The portrait stands on its own |

What frame options are there?
Paper prints come framed in natural wood, dark wood, black or white, or unframed. Canvas comes in a float frame in natural wood, dark wood or black, or as canvas only. Natural wood is selected by default. Every frame is real wood, and you choose at checkout rather than sorting it out later.

Canvas frames work differently. They are float frames, so there is a deliberate gap between the edge of the canvas and the inside of the frame. The canvas looks like it is sitting inside the frame rather than being pinned under it.

- White disappears into a pale wall and lets the portrait carry the colour
- Black gives the most contrast and suits a darker or busier backdrop
- Natural wood is the warmest and the most forgiving next to other furniture
- Dark wood reads more formal, and sits well with older or heavier pieces
What are the prints actually made of?
Paper prints use 250 gsm matte stock, uncoated and smooth, so a window or a lamp does not bounce off it. Canvas is a cotton and polyester blend at 300 to 350 gsm, stretched 2 cm deep over FSC-certified wood. Frames on both are real wood.

The matte finish matters more than it sounds like it should. A glossy print looks sharper in a photograph and worse on a wall, because you spend half the day looking at a reflection of the window instead of at your pet.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Canvas does. Every canvas arrives with its hanging kit already fitted, so it goes straight from the box to the wall. Framed paper prints have a sawtooth fitting on the back of the frame. An unframed paper print is the one option you will need to frame yourself.

What if you only want the digital file?
The digital portrait is a complete product and is available everywhere, printed or not. You get a 4K file by email, which prints cleanly at all three sizes if you would rather use a local print shop. Print orders include the digital file too, so choosing print costs you nothing.
Printing and shipping are available in selected countries. If yours is one of them, your country is there to choose at checkout, with shipping already included in the price.
Common questions
Can I frame a print myself instead?
Yes. The three sizes are standard, so an off-the-shelf frame fits without a custom mount. Ordering the frame with the portrait mainly saves you a trip and a second delivery.
Will the colours match what I saw in the preview?
Very closely. The print uses the same 4K file as the preview. Matte paper reads very slightly softer than a backlit screen, which is true of every print and is usually a flattering difference.
Is the digital file big enough to print larger myself?
The file is 4K, which covers all three of our sizes comfortably. Going much beyond 60 by 80 cm starts to depend on your printer and your viewing distance rather than on the file.
Does the frame add much to the delivery time?
No. Framed and unframed orders are produced and shipped together, so the estimate you see at checkout already accounts for the frame.
